It has been said, “The person who won’t change his mind to line up with the truth will change the truth to line up with his mind.” (Kent Crockett) Recently the State of Arizona put into place a law to protect their borders against an influx of illegal aliens from crossing over from Mexico. These illegal aliens were responsible for the murder of a prominent rancher in the southern part of the state, as well as drug trafficking, armed robbery, rape, etc. Phoenix is now more dangerous than any other city in America, including places like Los Angeles and New York. The federal government, spanning about 3 presidential administrations, has failed to secure our southern border. There has been much talk and little action.

When the Arizona legislature passed this law it was quickly signed by the governor. Immediately there was a barrage of attacks from the far-left in this country labeling the law as racist, insensitive, a formula for racial profiling, mean-spirited, and the list goes on. The 10-page law was carefully written and crafted to stand up to scrutiny and legal challenges, however that has not stopped the ACLU from filing lawsuits to challenge the legality of this measure.

Many prominent people began calling for boycotts of the State of Arizona. Certain cities have said they would boycott the state such as Los Angeles and Minneapolis. Some large sporting events have threatened to pull out of the state. People from President Obama down through his administration, most notably Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitono, have openly criticized the law labeling it as racist, unconstitutional and on and on. However, in a series of stunning admissions, when pressed, Holder and Napolitano both admitted they have not yet even read the law! They have made snap judgments and are making speeches and doing interviews denouncing the law, but admit they have not even read it, much less studied it in detail! How could this be? Do we really want leaders being guided more by empathy and emotions rather than facts?

The liberal media, which has long since ceased to be a “watchdog” for the American people, has now become a “guard dog” for the administration. It has a worldview which is different than that of “Bill” and “Betty” American. America is a “right-of-center” country and the “mainstream” media is significantly left of center. You can look at what some of these journalists report, what circles they run in, the things they print, and the things they say, and clearly one can see how out-of –touch they are with where most people are. They certainly have the right to believe what they want, however they do not have the right to “editorialize” while labeling what they are giving us as “hard news.” The typical evening newscast is “spun” however they desire.

When liberals in the Obama administration attack laws with which they are unfamiliar, one wonders how truly familiar they are with the constitution. Instead they “tow” the party line. Republicans often do the same thing. Very few independent thinkers still exist in our government and in the media. Facing up to the “facts,” or the “truth” is a mark of maturity. Only the morally or ethically immature revise, spin, or neglect the facts in order to create a false sense of reality. The truth must take us where it will. We cannot allow “spin doctors” to continue to control our nation. We must sharpen our Biblical worldview and allow truth to reign once again. Truth, once again, must be in the driver’s seat and not merely along for the ride!
